  • Why do I have to take the TOEFL test?
As Rebecca mentioned in the video, you need to take this test to confirm that you have the English skills necessary to succeed in a REAL academic life.

  • What is the TOEFL test format?
Here is a chart with the format most TOEFL iBT uses.

Note: Integrated means that you are going to use at least two of the English skills at the same time. F.e. you can read, listen, and speak about one topic all in the same task or question

  • How do I know if I passed the test?
Nobody fails the TOEFL test. Each institution that uses this test has its own minimum score number for considering your admission application. Then, you need to know what is that score you need to be accepted in the institution you are applying for.

  • The institution where I am applying for ask me to get a score of 500 on the TOEFL but the iBT just have 120, how can I get the 500 with the iBT?
Well each kind of TOEFL test has its own score scale. Then, you need to know the equivalences within those scales. Here is the chart where you can find those equivalences.

Here you can notice that you need to get at least 64 in the iBT to have the 500 they are asking you for.

    No matter which exam you eventually decide to choose, it’s important to remember that these exam results can only be used in applications for two years after the exam.This is important to remember while you are browsing IELTS or TOEFL preparation course, if you are planning on applying for citizenship or collage and intend to use your results as an entry requirement.
